01 Where Number-Wisdom Comes From
Numerology is the oldest of the divination sciences because it needs no instruments — only names and dates. Pythagoras (6th c. BCE) taught that number is the essence of all things; his followers reduced names to vibrational sums. Jewish gematria assigned values to Hebrew letters for textual mysticism; the Chaldean school refined name-numbers; modern Western numerology fused these streams in the 20th century around five core numbers.
